Training and behaviour
Reward-based training for recall, the lead, settling and time alone.

Reward-based training for real Weimaraner life: coming back when called, walking nicely on a lead, settling at home and coping with time alone. Every method here is force-free, and we explain why.
A training guide is published only after a qualified force-free trainer has checked it, and each one tells you when it is time to bring in your vet or a qualified behaviourist.
- Weimaraner separation anxiety: identify and address it safelySeparation anxiety is panic, not spite: manage absences first, then build alone time in tiny steps, and bring in your vet and a behaviourist early.
- Alone-time foundations for a Weimaraner puppyTeach your Weim puppy that being alone is safe from the first days at home: short, calm absences while they are settled, built up only as they stay relaxed.
- Weimaraner recall trainingRecall is hard for a hunting breed, so build it at home first, then on a long line, with rewards your Weim values more than the chase.
- Loose-lead walking for WeimaranersWeims pull because pulling gets them places. Teach that a slack lead moves you forward, with a comfortable harness, good rewards and plenty of sniff breaks.
- Settling, calm behaviour and enrichmentA Weimaraner's off switch is taught, not found: reward calm on a mat, protect rest, and use sniffing, chewing and food puzzles to help them wind down.
- Crate comfort versus confinement distressA crate can be a Weim's favourite den or a source of panic. Build it up as a good place, keep stays short, never use it as punishment, and watch for distress.
- What to do when your Weimaraner destroys thingsDestruction is a message, not spite. Rule out distress first, manage the house so mistakes cannot happen, then meet the need with chewing, sniffing and company.
